Boreas Re-imagined

My first post for 2012! This is inspired by the Pre-Raphaelite photo shoot of Saoirse Ronan in the December issue of American Vogue magazine. It's called The Cult of Beauty and you can view it here:

I am such a fan of the actress. She is attractive, expressive, grounded and intelligent among so many other things.

I have not practiced the classical painting style for some time as it is quite time-consuming but I do love it. I decided to reinterpret J.W. Waterhouse's Boreas with Saoirse as the subject of the picture. I got ideas from seeing her in Hanna, with her fair hair and porcelain skin; as well as The Way Back, where her costume suits this particular painting.
